Rokia LTD (“we,” “our,” or “us”) built WingLog, a freemium app for ultralight (ULM/VDS) pilots. This Privacy Policy explains what information we process, why, and your rights under the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

By using WingLog you agree to the practices described here. If you do not agree, please do not use the app.

1. Information We Process

Information you provide

  • Account: When you sign in with Sign in with Apple, we receive your Apple user identifier and, if you choose to share it, your name and email address (which may be an Apple private-relay address). Authentication is handled via Supabase (EU region).
  • Logbook and pilot minima: Your personal flight logbook and personal weather minima are stored in your private Apple iCloud (CloudKit) account and synced across your devices. We do not have access to this private CloudKit data.
  • Shared aircraft data: Aircraft details, engine hours, maintenance, shared flight logs and invitations for aircraft you co-own are stored in Supabase (Postgres, EU/Frankfurt) and are visible to the members of that aircraft.
  • Community contributions: Airfields you add, and reviews and photos you publish, are stored in Supabase and are publicly visible within the app. They are associated with your user identifier.
  • Support requests: If you contact us, we process your email address and the content of your message.

Information collected automatically

  • Precise location (GPS): With your permission, WingLog uses precise location — including in the background during an active flight — to automatically detect take-off and landing, build the flight track, and find the nearest weather station. The GPS track is stored with the relevant flight (locally and, for shared aircraft, in Supabase). You can deny or revoke location access in iOS Settings (some features will be unavailable).
  • Device/diagnostic data: Minimal technical data (e.g., app/OS version) may be processed to operate the service. We do not use third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking SDKs.

Data from external sources

WingLog retrieves data from public/third-party sources to function: weather (METAR/TAF/SIGMET) from aviationweather.gov / NOAA, airspace and aeronautical data from OpenAIP (accessed through our own server proxy), and airfield data from OurAirports (public domain). These requests do not include your personal identity.

2. Why We Process It (Lawful Bases — GDPR Art. 6)

  • Performance of a contract: to provide the app’s core features (account, logbook, flight detection, aircraft sharing, subscriptions).
  • Consent: for precise/background location access (granted via the iOS permission prompt; withdrawable at any time).
  • Legitimate interests: to keep the service secure, prevent abuse, and operate the community airfield database.

3. Sharing and Transfers

  • We do not sell your personal data.
  • Apple processes Sign in with Apple and subscription purchases (via StoreKit). Your private iCloud/CloudKit data is governed by Apple’s privacy terms.
  • Supabase is our backend processor (hosting, database, authentication, storage) in the EU.
  • Community contributions (airfields, reviews, photos) are, by their nature, shown publicly to other users.
  • Personal data is stored and processed in the European Union. Where any sub-processor operates outside the EU, appropriate safeguards (e.g., Standard Contractual Clauses) apply.

4. Data Retention

  • Personal logbook/minima remain in your iCloud account until you delete them or your iCloud data.
  • Shared aircraft data, community contributions, reviews and photos are retained until you delete them or delete your account, subject to the legitimate interest of keeping the community database consistent (a contribution may be retained in anonymised form).
  • Support emails are retained as long as needed to handle your request.

5. Your Rights (GDPR)

You have the right to access, rectify, erase, restrict, port, and object to the processing of your personal data, and to withdraw consent at any time. To exercise these rights, contact kiaromfly@gmail.com. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection supervisory authority (in Spain, the AEPD).

Account & Data Deletion

You can request deletion of your account and associated shared/community data by contacting kiaromfly@gmail.com (or via the in-app account deletion option where available). Your private iCloud logbook is removed by deleting the app’s iCloud data from your device/iCloud settings.

6. Children

WingLog is intended for licensed/trainee pilots and is not directed to children under 16. We do not knowingly process data of children under 16.

7. Security

We use industry-standard measures (encryption in transit, EU-hosted backend, row-level security, server-side secrets). No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, but we work to protect your data.

8. Safety Notice

WingLog’s “Go/No-Go”, weather, airspace and airfield information is a decision-support tool based on third-party data that may be incomplete, delayed, or inaccurate. It is not a substitute for the official pre-flight briefing and aeronautical documentation. The final decision always rests with the Pilot in Command.

9. Changes

We may update this Privacy Policy. Material changes will be indicated by updating the “Last Updated” date. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance.
